Captain’s Blog – March 6, 2010 – Marathon Florida Keys – Congratulations to James Simcic on winning the Simonds Snapper Shootout.
Simcic, 25, took the grand prize with his 19.3-pound cubera snapper.
Congratulations, also, to Jeremy Foell for raising more than $4,000 through the sale of raffle tickets. Simcic (left) is shown here with Jason Bell and one of the spearguns that was awarded as a raffle prize.
All proceeds from the event went to Jessica Simonds, widow of FWC Biologist Jeff Simonds, who lost his life in an auto accident on the Seven Mile Bridge on February 18.
