Florida Keys Fishing Report – Captain Chris Johnson, SeaSquared Charters – July 11, 2010
Neil Roberts recognizes the importance of family time and chose Tranquility Bay Resort in Marathon Florida Keys as the place to vacation with his wife and children. Naturally, they included a fishing trip with SeaSquared Charters.
We set off on a half day trip to the reef. While DJ and I found the fishing a bit on the slow side, the Roberts clan thought just the opposite. They came back to the dock with a bunch of yellowtail snapper, 2 muttons up to 12 pounds, 8 mangroves to 4 pounds, a yellowjack and a nice 22-pound black grouper caught by Drew.
After a swim back at the resort and a cook-your-catch dinner at Castaway Restaurant, the gang returned for some night snapper fishing.
It took a little while to get started, but once the rods started bending there were 30 yellowtail snapper and a few mangrove snapper in the fish box. The kids did all the fishing while Neil and Suzanne enjoyed a bottle of champagne. That’s what I call catching!
Thank you Neil, Suzanne, Marissa, Drew and Garrett. Can’t wait to see you again next year!
