There is neither a fishing venue nor time of year you won’t find snapper in the Florida Keys. Mangrove, lane, yellowtail, mutton … to name the most common.
All the snappers are sporty for their size and will give a good account of themselves on the end of a rod and reel. They fight doggedly trying to bully their way back into the structure from which they came, be it grass, coral or a wreck.
The delicate, flakey, white meat of the Florida Keys snappers makes for excellent eating quality.
